Society
Society (formerly named Council) is the institution-simulation and debate-audit workspace — not a second Canvas, but a focused place to:
- Define an institution's structure: committees, desks, agents and hierarchy
- Run investment questions against that institution and watch a structured, multi-round debate unfold
- Observe disagreement, rebuttals, votes and consensus — live, as they stream
- Export auditable decision processes for compliance and internal review
What lives here
- Institution templates — ready-made compositions with real public rosters, including the Federal Reserve FOMC (12 voting members), the Bank of England MPC (9 members), and multi-pod fund structures, plus a dozen archetypes (hedge fund, asset manager, bank trading desk, …). Apply a template, adjust it, save it as your own.
- Three views — Structure (the org chart), Topology (the influence network around any member), and Live debate (the streaming discussion with rebuttal threads, vote chips and a consensus card).
- Agent profiles — members carry biographies, cognitive-bias profiles and voice styles that shape how they argue. Outputs are approximations of public reaction functions, never predictions of a named person.
- Decisions that flow downstream — a completed debate emits a structured decision (stance, confidence, asset views, risk appetite) that Canvas nodes consume: portfolio weights tilt, signal directions adjust, risk overlays tighten or relax.

The two connect: drop an institution node onto a Canvas graph and the full committee debates inside your analysis, with its decision wired to downstream nodes.
Stations
Society is arranged in four stations: Institutions (the gallery and the open institution with its Structure, Topology and Live debate views), Agents (the members themselves — the station formerly labelled Actors), Scrutiny (put a thesis to reviewers and read the debate), and Logbook.
Society and the Exchange
Institutions also take part in the Exchange, where each one judges resolvable theses blind, through its decision seat, and builds a calibration record alongside you:
- Institution cards in the gallery carry an Exchange · n bets · hit x% chip, and an open institution's header has Exchange record →; both open the institution's record in the Observatory — every bet with its reason, evidence and the process behind it.
- A settled match's Send to Scrutiny hands the thesis to the Scrutiny station for a full debate; the Observatory links back to any scrutiny debate already run on the same thesis.
- Interview this house in the Observatory asks an institution's decision seat about a thesis on the same evidence the market gave it; the answer is logged in the Society behaviour ledger.
